Always prune the DEAD, DISEASED or DYING branches when cutting either in the fall or early spring to help your plants produce healthy new growth

Nitrogen helps things grow up- especially things like grass or green plants need lots of nitrogen, a high N number 15-2-3. Phosphorus helps the plant grow roots underneath the soil, the high P number 4-10-2. Potassium helps the plants grow all over especially the flowers, so it's good to get a fertilizer with a high K value (12-3-10).

PRUNING

PRUNING

Another tip about pruning is make sure you do not prune more then 1/3 of the size of the entire plant. If you prune more then that, it may be too much and cause quite a bit of stress to the plant. Also, when planting, it's good to water the hole before putting the plant in the hole and if you're planting in the summer make sure to give yo

Also, when planting, it's good to water the hole before putting the plant in the hole and if you're planting in the summer make sure to give your plant lots of water frequently until the plant is established (developed lots of roots) or it may not have enough strength to withstand the summer heat and could die. Also, putting bone meal at the bottom of the hole can be good because this has lots of phosphorus to help the plant develop stronger roots when its first establishing itself

Powdery Mildew

Water Resistant/Drought Tolerant- Flood Resistant

Always Check The Plant Tag!

If you notice powdery mildew on your plants, this may be because there is not enough air circulation for your plant, the plant needs to have some leaves removed to provide better air flow, so it is not too crowded. Try 3 parts water, 1 part milk and spray this on the leaves and this may also help reduce or prevent the powdery mildew.

Always Check The Plant Tag!

I know it may sound silly, like common sense but seriously, if you look at a plant tag, it can tell you so many important things to know about plant care! If it has a sun, it needs to be planted in full sun or at least morning sun if you can get some sun. If it has half a sun and half cloud, plant it in a spot that has part sun part shade

If it has a sun, it needs to be planted in full sun or at least morning sun if you can get some sun. If it has half a sun and half cloud, plant it in a spot that has part sun part shade. If it has only a cloud, it must be planted in full shade. It will also say when it flowers in the year if it's a perennial. It will say how tall or wide the plant grows to be. If you can't figure out if the plant is going to be in sun or shade, go outside, look to the east, look at the plant, look up at the sky (12pm- mid summer that's where the sun will be) then point your arm in an arc from east-sunrise to west-sunset and this will show you at what time of the day the sun will shine on your plant.

Some plants including things like succulents, ice plant, most lavender-once established, rosemary, and other plants are great for drought resistant- very dry environments- these plants are good planting in full sun areas where you may not get as much water. Other plants that prefer more water are things like iris, and sedges and can be planted in places that get more water.
