Pesky pest deterents

Something that you might not know are some natural ways to deter different pesky insects. Dog hair as well as copper pennies can be used in the garden to deter slugs. Diatomacheous earth is also a good deterent for insects as well. In addition, a more natural insecticide is adding dish soap to water (just a bit) as well as vinegar (not too much).

Butterflies are attracted to pincushion flower, hummingbirds love red flowers, especially salvia, as well as fuchsia. It's been a while since I've worked at a garden centre but I believe bumble bees are attracted to blue and yellow flowers.

Coffee grounds are great for the soil, increase nutrients and deter pesky insects too.
